When Shit Gets Done

Saturday felt good. You know when you got a shit load of shit to do and you just keep putting it off or run out time and the list gets bigger. Well I tackled a list like that on Satruday.

Dry Cleaning : Should have opened one myself. Major business, only overhead is equipment. My bill averages $150 a month. Fucking Koreans.

Haircut : I hate getting haircuts. Yet I despise ponytails on men. Go figure. But yes I consider it a chore.

Jeweler : I need my wedding band to be stretched because my fingers got fat. Yup, it's finally starting to happen. Metabolism is slowing down, weight happens. Laugh it up all those people that wished this on me when I was 160 pounds for like 7 years. Fat fucks.

Car Insurance Inspection : I switched from Geico ($3900 a year) to Progressive ($1940 a year). That was a wise decision. But I had to get a photo inspection done at one of the Carco locations. It didn't take long and was free but it's still viewed as a pain in the ass.

Oil Change : When I was 13 I would help my dad change the oil on our Oldsmobile. But now I just pay someone the $25 and have them do it. It's easier this way.

Food Shopping : When is this not a chore? We eat to damn much.

PA has some redeeming qualities

Weekend was solid, we put together a slip n' slide in the backyard. Drank Yuengling cans and had a bucket of margarita's in the freezer. The PA house is a nice getaway, it's located up in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania. It's a large compound of luxury houses surronded by lakes, golf courses, ski hills and other recreational activities. My uncle bought a house up there about 5 years ago.

Hideout link.

Picture Gallery.

It's a nice little getaway you know, different from a NJ shore house or Hamptons getaway. I can fish all I want, I can lay in grass if I choose, sit on some rocks on a creek, skip rocks on the lake, drink beers under the stars, get a roaring fire going in the back, chase deer, golf, shoot hoops, make pretend I can play tennis, ski in the winter, rent a boat or just sleep and relax. Which is key. For some reason the house brings out the sleep til noon el pad. It's just cozy.

No Super Bowl MVP I know gets rescued after flipping a fucking kayak.

I smell pussy. Is that you Tom?

Tom Brady rescued in a river after flipping his kayak over. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

BBBBBBBBWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

oooooo

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

hold on ::gasping for air clutching side::

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA

BBWBWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

holy shit this is gold

because even if eli manning is the most boring, preppy, illeterate looking son of a bitch out there, in no way would he ever need to be rescued from a river after flipping over his kayak.

furthermore, I'm sure as a Super Bowl MVP, Eli would figure he'd rather die in that river than get pulled out by another man.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA

Suck it Brady!

Hilarious link.

Diseased

I had some cell phone pics to post but they are on my work PC and I'm home. Sick. Got some hybrid chest flu thing. Combination of the kid and the gooks on the subway. Deadly combo.

I almost bought the green bags that I can store fruit up to 2 weeks longer!

Oil is going to hit $85 a barrel. Listen to me. If you in the market buy some long Oil future contracts or oil related stocks.

Air France flight 447 details are horrifying.

I'm not letting this illness detract me from going away this weekend. Still plan on going up to PA for a little R&R. Although there are plans for 50 ft. of fury. Which is 4 Slip and Slides.

I just find it weird that Obama quotes the Koran over the Holy Bible.

Today is national Doughnut Day. Dunkin and Krispy Kreme are giving away free donuts. Homer Simpson cries tears of joy today.

Shaving and haircuts are terrible.

Growing Pains

One of the joys of having a kid is watching them grow, learn and discover new things. But I got to thinking last night that if my kid knew what I knew about a couple of life's minor details she might be better off.

For instance she has a pretty bad cold right now. And I'm trying to teach her how to blow her nose. You see, as you all know, if you blow your nose mucus will come out and relieve some sinus pressure and if it does come out it will cause you to cough less. She doesn't understand this and gets pissed off when I try to show her how to blow the boogers out. Also since we are a pill popping society she sees us prepping a little dropper with medicine in it and flips out. Like fights you. She has a mean right jab too. Caught me in the eye last night. Little wench. Anyway if she knew this medicine would alleviate some of her symptoms she would take it like she takes candy.

Another thing I noticed that I think she'd appreciate is to hold the stick of a lollipop when eating one. Do not hold the actual candy. Because, and I know this will blow her mind, once you wet the lollipop it will get sticky and your hands will also become sticky. She looks at me like "yo man wtf are my hands sticky for" and expects me to wipe them while she eats the lollipop. I'm like "yo lil girl, hold the lollipop by the stick and you wont have these problems". She responds with a deep ::blank stare::.

She'd definitely appreciate knowing that when you bang your head on purpose that shit hurts. Definitely. Also biting fingers.

One more thing I know she'd love to know beforehand. Paper and plastic taste the opposite of good. No taste. Nothing. Not even nutritional value. Hell I haven't eating plastic or paper in 28 years. She'd love to know that.

A letter.

A letter to the President, written by the great Lou Pritchett.

Dear President Obama, You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you. You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support. You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American. You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core. You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others. You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail. You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad. You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one. You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world. You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations. You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient. You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do. You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view. You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing. Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

To say that I agree with him would be a gross understatement.

Phelps got nothing on me

I want to talk about how I learned how to swim. Now I've talked at length about how old school my father was and this story is a fine example of that. We had some cousins that lived way out in NJ (Montville) back when. Actually they still live there, in the same house. But anyway they had a big pool with a nice deck and a diving board. They were rich, rich to us because we lived in a 5 room apartment compared to their 4 bedroom house with a full basement, pool, huge backyard and 2 car garage. The boy cousin was my age and during the summer of 1986 he learned how to swim. And I mean swim, like a guppy.

So my competitive drive started to kick in when I heard about this and I begged my dad to teach me before we went there so I can swim too. He told me not to worry that I will learn how to swim as soon as we DO get there. I was confused but my attention span was that of a gnat so I forgot about it until we got in the car to head up there one summer weekend. I bothered him in the car the whole way there, when we got there I changed into my suit and awaited deployment of arm floaties onto my arm.

As I approach the deck I see my dad, with no arm floaties walking towards me. Weird I thought. So he picks me up, starts talking to me about kicking in the water, moving your arms forwards than backwards you know basic how to swim chatter. Then without saying a word. HE TOSSES ME IN THE POOL. Just like that. My mom flips out as I initially gasp for air, he's screaming kick, kick, kick........4 seconds after I got tossed in I'm swimming. Not like a guppy but I'm treading water. He's as happy as a piss clam saying that's how he learned how to swim. I felt like a fucking gangster without my floaties.

My cousin was impressed, he learned how to swim by taking lessons at the local high school. Pussy I thought. Real men learn how to swim when they get thrown in the water. That day I learned more technical ways of swimming and by the end of the summer was a guppy. Underwater, over water, you name it I did it. Joined the Y (YMCA) the next year and participated in a kids olympics tournament, won 2nd place. Graduated from guppy to shark. Dad was proud. Crazy fuck.

That's all I got. But it's memorial day weekend so Iwon't hold you any longer. Drink beer, watch baseball, sun yourself and bbq everything. Just run the grill the whole weekend. Don't even turn it off. Speaking of that I wanted to pass along a cool link about wood grilling. Man when I get a house in 2098 I'm gonna have a sick wood fire pit to grill meats on. Can't wait.

Musicality

Anybody that reads this blog play an instrument? I ask because I want to learn how to play a couple. By a couple I mean like 8. It's just a cool thing to know how to do. Strumming an acoustic guitar around a fire on a beach somewhere away from home. Playing a piano in the lobby of a majestic hotel. Flicking my fingers back and forth on a Yukelie while sitting Indian style on the platform of a busy subway stop. Banging drums in a garage and screaming obscenities. Killing a saxophone in a blue's club while a tall whiskey waits for me. Taking my bongos on the road and in wedding halls. Spitting hot on a harmonica like a skinny John Popper. Or straight rip a violin to shreds, enough to make a Beethoven fan cry tears of happiness.

I want to make one of those fantasies come true.

Whoa

I'm in a real shitty mood. I need a raise, I need to find a formidable, affordable and reliable Day Care Center. Gotta call Wachovia and tell them to stick the loan up their ass. Gotta call the cable guy to come pick up the godamn boxes and take them off my bill. Want to punch my Aunt in her face for keeping grandma in a rundown piece of shit nursing home. The damn Asians are ruining my shirts at the dry cleaning. Godamn computer has more virisues than a 22 year old Madonna. Some jerkoff sneezed on me this morning, it took tremendous discipline not to leave him paralyzed. The water in this building tastes like rubber cement and seltzer. The car insurance is due soon. My boss is acting really fucking strange. Aunt flo is in town and i'm dying for some pie. Gollum keeps trying to convince me that if he demands lawful notes instead of money (which he says is just federal reserve credit) that he would not have to pay taxes. I can't wait until he gets arressted. These boxers are giving me a wedgie. My broken pinky won't heal because I keep banging it all over the place like a clumsy schmuck. Obama gave a commencement address to the biggest catholic university in America yet he was born a muslim. I tried McSorley's Black Irish Lager and hate it. I hate wasting beer. But it's undrinkable. Fuck.

WOE is me.

Plane crashes

You know what fascinates me? Plane crashes. I have Wikipedia'd every single plane crash there ever was and even went as far as reading each official NTSB report. I am not normally fascinated with tragic deaths but just find plane crashes so extraordinary. Maybe it's the complexity of the machine itself, maybe it's the connection to me aspiring to be a pilot myself, maybe it's watching The Aviator, or maybe it's the people, how so many lives are touched by a single event.

Each crash I have read about I always attach myself to a certain set of facts or circumstances. For instance recently you've heard the NTSB's investigation of the flight 3407, the Continental charter from Newark, NJ to Buffalo. And you've heard that the pilots were inexperienced and failed to save or prevent the plane from crashing the way it did. I find that so depressing yet so interesting. I can't help but think of the families victims who now have to live with the fact that they could have been alive if someone else were flying the plane. Then I think of the families of the two pilots who have the grief of losing a loved one on top of grief from FAA, NTSB blaming their loved one for basically crashing the plane. The scream, the last audible before impact must be a harrowing sound.

Why does this stuff fascinate me?

Wiki Entry of the Week

So if you hadn't noticed I'm stopping the daily links post. Going back to the roots, just treating this blog like a open diary of shit floating around in my head and various entertaining rants. I will still force a Wikipedia entry on occasion, probably weekly. Today feels like the day to do just that, so without further ado the Wiki entry of the day is Cattle Gun.

Now your probably wondering why am I linking a description for a weapon that is used to slaughter cows and the answer is simple. If you've seen No Country for Old Men you'll know exactly why I looked up "cattle gun". If you haven't seen it I suggest you do.

Taco Night!

Cinco De Mayo.

When I read that I wonder why there hasn't been a movie about this. Like a Saving Private Guzman or some shit. Sounds like it would be pretty awesome. I mean Desperado was cool as fuck. Maybe you can get Robert Downey Jr. to play a mexican.

Anyway cook up some tacos tonight. Chicken fajita's are in order, fresh guac, salsa, the works.
Try pork tacos, I've been loving them lately. Cube a cut of pork from the loin, like pork chops but cube them. Treat them like you would chicken as far as seasoning and they make great tacos.

Adios!

Good times.

Well, the streak is over. The last time I threw up from drinking too much was when I went on a mancation to Green Bay. November 2006. After about 25 or so beers (wish I was kidding) I spilled my cookies that morning before the 11AM kickoff. Fast foward to Saturday night for a minute. My wonderful sister in law bartends at this place called Beckett's. It's downtown Manhattan on a tiny street laced with other bars. It's basically a sports bar. So we go and I had a Super Bowl Sunday with my football team so I wanted to take it easy. You know, some wings maybe 5 or 6 beers and call it a night. Yeah. That worked out well. What ended happening was 8 or 9 beers, couple of Irish Car Bombs AND 4 or 5 shots of 18 year old Jameson. As we left the bar my cousin took a menu chalkboard, I took a traffic cone off the street and Wolf dunked on a traffic pedestrian light and SHAQ'D it. No shit the fucking thing came crashing down. Either it was loose or Wolf is really a small gorilla. Good times.

Anyway I got home somehow and laid in bed. A minute later I was ass naked in the bathroom with my head in the toilet. Got up the next morning and felt like dogshit. Drove the wife to work and got back to get dressed for my game. Still wasn't right. Had to purge again. So, I did what I had to do and immediately felt better. Picked up the boys and headed to the field. Snacking on cheeze-its and water. Played, played well but we lost. By 3 points. Losing $5000 to a team you despise is the turd on the cake. Sucked. And now I had to nurse a hangover. Like woe.

Wiki Entry of the Day

Today I am introducing a brand new theme to the El Padrino blog. The Wikipedia lesson of the day. It will come with a link and a breif summary of the subject. I'v said many times how awesome Wikipedia is. I bet you can home school a kid from it. In fact I may try this with my own kid.

Wikipedia entry of the day.

Summary: Motherfucker was 16 years old when he started running shit. Guy was a pimp. Pimping ferries and ships. He nailed it. People wanted to go places. He wanted to take them places. Started undercutting other transportation companies, eventually just domintating the waters and the rails. Built the original Grand Central Station in NYC. He was such a ruthless businessman he disowned his sons, except for one of them. That one happen to be just as ruthless as himself. Part of his legacy now includes Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee. The Commodores they are known as. I betcha Cornelius has some sort of cloud empire in heaven. Fucking guy.

Nice sideburns bro.

Thought(s)

I wish my wife liked movies more. I love movies. We should go to the movies more often. Last movie I saw in the theater was Dark Knight, before that, The Departed. Netflix was great when I had it but it became a chore. Like I felt if I didn't watch what came in the mail quick I was losing money. But I think I'm going to re-up. I have alot of movies to catch up on.

Also it seems impossible to murder someone nowadays and not get caught. With all the DNA and stuff. Just sayin. And no I'm not interested in murdering someone. Just watch and read alot of shit and these are the thoughts they provoke.

Carry on my wayward sons.

The Day Cho Happened

VT Remembers.

Quick eery story, I drove right past the exit for Blacksburg, VA on April 16, 2007 after hearing the local news radio break the story of the tragedy that unfolded earlier that morning. I was driving down to Franklin, North Carolina to visit my mother. We had stopped at a Cracker Barrel for lunch in a strip mall somewhere in Virgina (forgot the name think it was Salem) and when I got back into the car, we turned on the radio because the IPOD lost it's juice and I forgot my CD's. Only to hear that a Virgina Tech student, calmly opened fire upon students and faculty killing 32 of them. I quickly said to myself man I wonder if that's close to hear. Knowing from College Football that Va Tech is in a town called Blacksburg we went back to Interstate 81 having no idea we would pass the University. What a eery feeling. Listening to people call in to the radio, crying, telling stories, etc. Then passing the exit, a cold crisp air took over, through the trees you can see some buildings, not knowing if the University is actually that close to the Interstate but that didn't matter. For a minute we felt compelled to get off the exit and check out the area. Choosing not to we kept on going, sort of silent and sad.

Just totally weird that I was in the area when this national tragedy happened. My heart sincerely goes out to anyone that may have lost a family or friend 2 years ago.

Flip-Flop Talk If I May

I want to talk about flip-flops for a minute. Up until like 2 years ago I would say. I was reluctant, as a man, to wear flip-flops. My fear was that they make me look gay. Being as mostly women rock the rubbery thong sandal. I mean I even lived in Florida and didn't own a pair. Rocked Jordan's to the beach and just was gangsta with the whole not caving in to wearing a women's shoe.

However more and more trusted retailers began to make them and market them to men. Places like American Eagle and The Gap as you can see gave men a decent option from the rag tag rubber $3.99, a tad gay looking thong flip-flop. No doubt those maybe useful for wearing on the beach or beating a small dog but I don't think a man should rock the rubber thong flip-flop anywhere other than the beach itself or to throw out the garbage. Call me crazy. Mandals like the one's Romans, Jesus and Russians wear like these are unacceptable to me. If you wear these and are my friend I will punch you in the throat. Immediately. Also the active ones, pictured here are also out of bounds. So choose your sandal wisely men. You don't want to give the wrong impression.

Chop to the arm hopefully gun would fall, kick it away and hopefully my fellow straphangers would help me detain the guy until police arrive. I always have a plan. Plan B was to use the lady sitting next to me as a human shield. She kept coughing and it was fucking annoying.

Massive amounts of people most of them are retarded and not in the downs sort of way but like literally so dumb they can't walk and push a shopping cart at the same time. The employees could care less if you died right there on the floor. The checkout employees are so nice, except not really. In Brooklyn the place gets so crowded that you have to actually park in a satelite parking lot, which is a clean block away from the entrance. And I hate crowds. Who does. Yeah shopping at these places save you money but they don't save you any time or stress.

Food message

I don't think we, as Americans, don't have enough variety in our diets. Chicken, beef, pork and that's it. Other countries eat some weird shit but I linked a goat article the other day and now I'm feening to try some goat. I watch Iron Chef all the time and look at some of the things they whip up, some of it I wouldn't touch but most I would ravage. Bugs actually do look appetizing on Bizarre Foods and on Anthony Bourdain's show the duck sandwhich he devoured in Vietnam looked incredible. Let's stop being plain jane and try some new shit.

WTF

Fuck.

Rant

After reading that AIG letter I wanted to vent a little. Honestly with all the shit swirling around the industry I work in it I've been somewhat silent through it all. Yes I've linked right winged political articles and yes I've shown some disdain for our new president but it's all been reserved. Until now.

There is nothing I enjoy more than public outrage, especially when it's forced upon the public from crooked ass politicians who all have an agenda and that agenda is never to help anyone else but themselves. If Wall Street is as corrupt as they say then Congress, The House and the staff of the President are devils. First let me start out by saying if the government would have bailed out Lehman Brothers this mess could have been avoided. And I'm serious when I say that. Economic experts agree, look it up. But instead they chose to facilitate a deal for Bear Stearns or more like stage a robbery to help a politically connected Jamie Dimon at Chase. Funny how that works. Poor Dick Fuld must have not contributed enough to Hank Paulson. In any event the credit default swap era took to a new shitty low. Firms were ripped apart, failed and collapsed. Companies that had vested options, bonds, other derivatives were soon not paid leaving many other companies penniless. At the same time banks froze credit and people defaulted on mortgages left and right rendering them useless. So what happens next, enter government.

TARP was created to rescue troubled assets of firms around the country to stop the bleeding. Subprime mortgage positions, credit swap defaults and otc options produced losses in the trillions in the financial industry. Now the plan had some changes but essentially the idea was to stand up these firms to prevent them from failing. Then media outlets began to do what they do best and that is for the most part spread lies. Reporting, in part about CEO pay, executive perks, country club memberships, etc. And part of this is warranted. CEO's have always made way too much money even in the worst of times but this outrage started to trickle down to the everyday worker.

The guy like me. I was stressed out so bad this past year because I was so afraid my bonus would not be paid. A bonus to the normal employee from associate level on up to anyone NOT on the executive board is basically just your overtime for the year. Since we get no overtime. Furthermore it came across like the government didn't know wall street was acting like this. Fucking Hank Paulson was Goldman's CEO during the time Credit Default Swaps were invented! He mad GAZILLIONS while at Goldman. Everyone knew these risk based products were dangerous, but when people make money they tend to shaddup about anything that would cause an outcome where they don't make money anymore. And don't even get me started on how the democrats and the former Clinton president ruined the mortgage business by giving loans to filthy poor ass people all in the name of living the American Dream. Because that's another day. And I'll admit Bush did some fucked up shit but economically he was a sound president. For three years he begged congress to reign in on Freddie and Fannie Mac. While blowhards like Barney Frank assured Americans the mortgage business was as sound as ever.

The overall slant on Wall Street is negative. It's a shame, even the President has gone out of his way in the past and now to bash it. Mainly because he still has the experience of a junior Senator and doesn't have a clue about how Wall Street works. It seems as if Americans turned on each other so quickly and all that aided it was a little he said she said. Like High School. One big gossip fest ostracizing the "whore" of the group. Nevermind the fact that thousands of normal people lost their jobs over this entire mess. Life savings gone. My uncle personally lost over a million dollars of Bear Stearns stock, was an employee for 23 years. Not on the executive board. Just a normal guy, thinking he had a secure job, with a wife, two grown kids.

Yeah Public Outrage, you want to take his bonus away too because his bank got TARP money. Fuck you public. And Fuck you hard. Read up on something once in awhile and try to understand what is really going on. Stop being sheep. You look like a crazed PETA member throwing red paint on a chinchilla coat. Act accordingly. The TARP money was to posture up financial companies who made bad bets. Deal with it. Part of posturing up a company is keeping workers compensation flowing. Yes it's fucked up teachers get paid shitty but you chose to be a teacher. No one complains about cops all over the country pulling in double overtime or no one mentioned any Senators forgo a year salary or not take any $12,000 "business trips" overseas. But everyone wants workers on Wall Street to return bonuses and to give up doing business the way it's been done since the day the first stock was publicly traded. Sometimes I really question this country's overall aptitude. And sometimes I come away thinking it's declining, at a massive massive rate.

Good times.

Man what a great night out Saturday night. We went to Johnny Utah's in midtown for my cousin's birthday. It was a cool place, it features a big ass mechanical bull in the middle of the joint. It's pretty funny seeing people getting tossed off that thing every minute. I drank an awful lot. I mean an AWFUL LOT. But was still able to wake up alive and even went on my normally scheduled Sunday and played football. I guess I am a alcoholic professional. The wife is most certainly proud. Some drinks consumed:

Corona, Patron, Jack Daniels, Jameson, cheap tequilla shots, Kamikaze shots, and Jagermeister.

That's like a liquid Heath Ledger. Damn I should be dead.

Good times.
