Isiah The King
Sorry for the late post. I'm still a bit taken back that Dolan really is serious about buying out Larry Brown. Just in case anyone was wondering I am a Knick fan. (pause)
Ok, the voices I hear in my head just stopped laughing. It's not that I don't think he can't afford it. Gosh I live in NY, I know the Dolan's own everyone's living room with the Cablevision monopoly. It just strikes me as odd as the replacement for Brown would be none other than Thomas. Isiah Thomas, who has been quietly whining to Dolan about how he can coach this team, this roster. He wants another shot at the bench, he wants to win. That's the only thing he knows how to do, yada, yada, yada. Never mind that he tanked the Raptors, never mind that he under-achieved in Indiana, never mind that he tanked the CBA. Either Thomas can sell eggs to a chicken or Dolan is incredibly stupid. Or both.
I would have to agree that Larry Brown is not the right coach for this team. That to me is fairly obvious. Marbury is not a true point guard. Never was, never will be. But with the right coach and system I still believe that he can lead a team to success. If Mike D'Antoni coached the Knicks. They would have won 10+ games more. I strongly believe that. They have quick guards who can shoot. They have an above average inside presence with Curry, Frye, James, Woods and Lee. And the bench is deep. A little too deep. I would have to suggest a trade or two to even up the roster position wise. Too many guards that do the same thing.
Francis has to go, I hate his game. A true point guard would be nice, that way Marbury can focus on getting to the paint rather than setting up his teammates. Nate is a bit of a project but an exciting one. One of the Rose's have to go. David Lee and Channing Frye are a must stay. I liked Qyntel Woods, I thought he played well at time. Jerome James is a joke. Jackie Butler is just a sloppy big men armed with 6 fouls. Curry has talent but no clue on how to reach it. Q can stay around the league for years with his three point shooting. Mo Taylor is like a Juwan Howard but heavier and he doesn't steal sunglasses. And Jamal Crawford is a true gunner and when hot can carry a team.
Isiah wants this job so bad, and I think he's going to get it. I'm scared. I don't know what he's going to do. The Pacers made the playoffs all three seasons he was there. But they were expected to do much more. Was that considered a failure? Larry Bird thought so. Is he afraid that he'll never get a job anywhere else? Is that why he's pushing for this job so hard? to prove he belongs. I mean he's got nothing to lose. If he fails, it's expected. If he succeeds he'll be coroneted. I'll hope for the latter. Because hope is all I got.
Padrino out.

TB, you are delusional, this team is horrible. Jimmy Dolan is a jock-sniffer who probably has to beat off after every meeting with Isiah. Isiah is one of the all-time connivers and snake oil salesman. He must be! Because even though no rational person could possibly trust anything that comes out of his mouth, he keeps finding people to do so, at least here in sophisticated, cosmopolitan New York. Jerome James is one of the biggest stiffs in the history of this league, he makes Stuart Gray look like Jerry Lucas. Plus he has a contract that makes Jon Koncak's a study in good value. Eddie Curry makes Charles Smith look like Xavier McDaniel, he is a total uninspired, insipid waste of space. And finally Marbury, a man so poisonous, he makes Bonzi Wells look like Willis Reed in comparison. I for one would urge the Knicks to test the hypothesis that a team only becomes better once it trades Stephon. I am rooting for Larry Brown to get bought out and leave, because quite frankly he deserves $50MM for putting his life on the line this season.
Larry Brown makes more money not coaching teams than anyone ever. With all of those buyouts he has organized added together, that's going to add up to 10 years of coaching he doesn't even have to do and he gets paid for. It's quite the brilliant plan actually.
As a Sixers fan who knows what it is like to have Larry Brown dick over your team, I sympathize a little bit with your plight.
However, I think Isiah wants to be coach just to prove to the world that he is not the idiot we all think he is. And that is a very dangerous reason.
York, I don't think Marbury is THAT bad. He's a SG, I don't know when coaches and GM's will recognize this.
That's a pessimistic opinion. I took the optomistic approach. Like I said, you gotta have hope.
And if you want Brown gone, who do you suggest as a replacement. What? Oh it don't matter because Zeke will be coaching.
Great information! I’ve been looking for something like this for a while now. Thanks!
