Oodles of Noodles
"Lima Time" : I hate Jose Lima. He's a piece of trash. And now he's ruining the Mets every fifth day. Bannister left his latest re-hab start 5 pitches into it. This is terrible news. This means it will be "Lima Time" at least 2 more times. Unless something drastic happens. Like a trade or a promotion for Pelfrey. Which at this point I'll take because anything is better then "Lima Time".
Got Wood : Rejoice Cub fans, 1/2 of your power pitching is back. He gave up three dingers but at least he's here and in the rotation again. It's been awhile since you've seen Wood throw that smokeball.
Ravech : I like Baseball Tonight. I like most of the analysts and most of the personalities. But if Karl Ravech says the Gamb-ino (referring to Jason Giambi) name one more time. I am going to murder someone.
Cavs : Extremely impressed by the Cavs poise late in these games. Usually young teams crumble under those circumstances, especially on the road. Lebron vs Wade in the conference finals is really getting me excited. My NBA playoff boner is huge right now.
Suns/Clippers : I really don't have a preference on who wins this because they'll get squashed by most likely the Mavs anyway. But I will watch it because it's a good series and Brand has become a must watch player.
NL East : I'm a realist. I know it's going to be a dogfight. But I must say I feel good. I feel like the Mets will take it this year. Braves, I don't think have the pitching and the young players I think will eventually crack (they have to, right?). Phils looked good during their streak but I have to say they don't scare me at all. Mets line-up is deeper and Wagner is better than Gordon. Pedro over Meyers and Glavine over Lieber. No argument from anyone except crazed Phillies fan on that analysis. It would help of course if Pat Burrell broke a bone or something. God he kills us. Hey Pat, what did we do to you?
Kazmir : God help me but Jim Duquette should have body lice for the rest of his life for the Zambrano / Kazmir trade. It's haunting. I can't even type anymore, I just want to puke.
Padrino out.

Speaking on behalf of crazed Phillies fans, allow me to respond to your assessment of the situation. I actually agree with some of it.
Mets lineup is deeper... you're right on that one. I'll give you that.
Pedro vs. Myers... yes, Pedro is better over the course of 162 games. But Myers is no slouch anymore. And in head to head contests so far, it's Myers 1, Pedro 0.
Glavine over Lieber... right now, yes. But Lieber is finding himself. I'll wait until September before reserving judgement.
Wagner over Gordon... now I think you're full of crap.
Gordon 13 saves so far, Wagner 8. Wagner 3 blown saves so far to Gordon's 1. I don't see how you can say that Wagner is better.
And just wait until Wagner blows that key September game like he did for us last year. You'll really love him then.
And for the record, I really like Billy Wagner.
Huh? I think the Phillies line-up is better than the Mets overrated hype machine line-up.
If these guys essentially cancel each other out:
Rollins=Reyes
Utley=Wright
Howard=Delgado
Abreu=Beltran
...then it becomes Bell, Burrell, Rowand, PHI/C v. LoDuca, Floyd, Nady, NYM/2b. That's one for the PhanStand.
And Ravech is an abortion.
Hmmm, I think the Mets and Phils are close in the lineup dept. Don't agree that the Phils are better though. Don't believe that Bell, Burrell, Rowand, Fasano are better than Floyd, Matsui, Nady, LoDuca. No way.
Burrell and Rowand match up better with the Mets remaining lineup than Bell and Fasano/Ruiz do. Even a healthy Mike Lieberthal falls short.
I think the Mets lineup is a little better, but at the same time I certainly don't think the Pbhillies lineup is any kind of slouch. I think our lineup hangs with the best of them.
But you may not want to ask me that now with both Abreu and Rollins in hitting slumps.
No way the Phillies line-up is better.
1. Floyd is not going to hit.200 for the whole season.
2. LoDuca is a superior hitter than any Phillie catcher.
3. Bell and Matsui, edge Bell.
4. Nady and Rowand cancel each other out, although Nady can hit more HR's.
Gordon right now, is better. But I have to believe Wagner will have a better season.
By the way Atl is 3.5 out. I hate them.
And York, Delgado is better than Howard. They do not cancel each other out. And Beltran is a switch hitter which counts for something, Abreu is not. That automatically makes Beltran better.
You hit it on the nose, El Padrino - as the Phils and Mets both begin to flounder, I get this uneasy feeling that it is only a matter of time before the Bravos take their rightful spot atop the division - I hate them as well. Somebody should punch Bobby Cox in the throat.
I'm glad it's so clear cut in your world, bagz, that magical fantasy land where you live in a gum drop house on lollipop lane.
Through 40 games, 1/4 the season:
The Mets have 1 more HR, Phillies OBP is .002 higher, the teams' SLG % and AVG are EQUAL! And the Phils OPS is .003 higher. At the very least, they are remarkably similar lineups (although at a price of $20MM less for one team), so none of this "no way!" silliness. This has nothing to do with the teams themselves, the Phils allow almost a run more a game and their pitching will do them in again at some point.
Dismiss Ryan Howard at your own risk.
And please, Bobby Abreu is a better player than Carlos Beltran. He's a lifetime .300 hitter, he won a Gold Glove, he's durable, he still runs. Granted, he's probably not the sensitive soul that Carlos is. And hey, Kaz Mats is also a switch-hitter, is he better too? How about Jose Valentin?
No the point is Beltran can hit from both sides of the plate. Abreu can't. He may sit against tough lefty's whereas Beltran won't sit. It's an adavantage.
I am not dismissing Ryan Howward but he is simply not a better or equal to hitter of a Carlos Delgado. Not yet anyway, could be.
Beltran, Delgado, Wright
vs.
Utley, Howard, Abreu
is that what it comes down to?
and when did you become a Philly fan? Your the most pessimistic Met fan ever. Do I even have to ask you about your feelings about "Lima Time"? Let's see how long they keep trotting out this trashbag.
LOS: That sound you hear, you know the water in the glass slowly rippling a la Jurassic Park, yeah it's the Braves.
Hmm, my feelings about Jose Lima...things I'd rather hear more than 'Lima Time' ever again:
Enema Time!
Why-Can't-We-Ever-Just-Talk Time!
Knicks Season Opener Time!
Sir-You've-Been-Flagged-For-Extra-Screening Time!
Audit Time!
Honey-What-Are-You-Doing-With-That-EPT Stick Time!
You-Using-The-Whole-Fist-Doc Time!
Abreu never sits against tough lefties. You're talking about a guy who had a significant consecutive games streak broken a week ago due to back spasms. Abreu does not sit against anyone. So the switch hitting argument in this case does not wash.
Ryan Howard though gets less at bats against tough lefties. He's more likely to sit. Which is why I give Delgado a slight edge for now over him. But only a slight one, and it won't be long before Howard is a true superstar in this game if he isn't already.
Boy, I really hate the Braves too.
But, isn't it nice (at least for Philadelphia fans) to have a reason to check the standings this early in the season? This is very uncommon.
