Fluff

With so much stuff going on in Sports right now, I think I'll just post up some random thoughts on everything.....

- Lebron was anti-Lebron last night. I've said before that until he learns how to take over games in the 4th quarter he just aint ready to be King. Yes, he's a man-child, yes he has world talent but he just has too many brain farts to be the "one".

-When Vince Carter tries, he's unstoppable.

- Favre is coming back. Couldn't have just said that 3 months ago? You had to know you didn't want to go out like you did.....

- I think whoever passes on AJ Hawk is going to be sorry. DE's and LB's like Williams and Hawk are rare. I don't blame the Texans for exploring Mario over Reggie. But I know for certain Mario will go to New Orleans if Houston takes Bush.

- Lidge is showing NLCS rust against LA at home. He has nasty stuff but blew two games in a row now. Warrants mentioning.

- It's very important for the Mets to keep winning in these early months. Every night, every NL East team loses. Not much is put into April records but I'd say any division lead is a good division lead.

Padrino out.

Farve

Hey Farve, mind your own business and decide whether or not your gonna play. Inconsiderate hillbilly.

Playoffs!!

It's NBA playoff time. Onto the picks.

EAST
Detroit over Milwaukee in 4.
Miami over Chicago in 4.
Joisy over Indiana in 6.
Cleveland over Washington in 7.

WEST
Spurs over Kings in 5.
Suns over Lakers in 6.
Denver over Clippers in 7.
Dallas over Memphis in 5.

EAST thoughts:

-Milwaukee is obviously overmatched but I do expect a OT game or two.
-Wade will destroy the Bulls. Shaq gets rest for the next round.
-Kidd is the difference maker here. J O'Neal makes this go six.
-Lebron vs. Arenas. I wish the league would stop overlooking this guy. He's awesome (Arenas that is).

WEST thoughts:
-Grudge fight between Artest and Bowen is bound to happen. Memo to Spurs, if a fight or altercation breaks do not leave the bench a la 1997 Heat/Knick series.
-Suns over Lakers, I know the Lakers are the sexy pick here but Suns have too much firepower. I say Kobe wins two games by himself.
-Key to Denver is K-Mart defending Brand and Melo controlling the offense.
-Dallas will crush Memphis. I give them one game because of Gasol's excellent facial hair.

NBA Random toughts:
-Fire Isiah now. So the new GM can get started righting this ship. I can't wait to see who the Bulls draft in June. Thanks Isiah.
-Other awards as follows:
ROY - Chris Paul
Most Improved - Boris Diaw
Defensive Player of the Year - Ben Wallace
Sixth-Man Award - Antonio McDyess
-Adam Morrison you are not ready. Stay another year and eat everything you see. Also lift some weights.
-Correction to the Kobe piece below....he averaged 35.4 this year. Most since 1967.

Club 200

It's an honor. Really it is. I mean it's not like his 1999 and 2000 campaign. That was the best back to back years a pitcher can have. Some argue the best in History. Winning-est pitcher with a minimum of 200 wins. Excellent company too. The pitcher who previously held that title was some guy named Whitey Ford. Seeing Pedro weave that ball in and out of the strike zone every five days is like a little slice of baseball heaven. I thank the Red Sox for not overpaying this man the way Minaya did. Don't get me wrong, I was for the overpayment. Anytime you can get your hands on a Hall of Fame pitcher a hair past his prime is ok with me. It's not like he's 40 like that stork over in the Bronx. I'll admit it's probably safe to say he won't reach the magical 300 club but 250 looks good. What looks better is me watching 50 more wins on HD every five days.

- It happened. And I know I'm a few days late with this but the Knicks are so bad they literally made Larry Brown sick to his stomach. Way to go fellas, great season.

- I hear Lendale White has a gut like a 33 year old married man with 4 kids. Not good.

- As much as this pains by bones to say this......Kobe Bryant is the MVP of the NBA this year.Based on three things for me. One he averaged about 33 points a game. I'd have to look it up but I know it's been awhile since that has happened. Two, if you replaced him with an ordinary but good two guard the team would barely win 20 games. I mean C'mon, the team around him is putrid. Three, he scored 81 points in a regulation game. And dropped 61 in three quarters in Dallas. Even when defenses zeroed in on him he dropped 30 plus. Plus he defends the best player on the other team night in, night out. It's a slam dunk case. Lebron is not worthy because he must learn how to dominate late in games (like he did in NJ a week and a half ago) and Wade has faded down the stretch. Shaq has not been as dominant as last year and battled some injuries. Nash can't be hidden on the defensive side of the ball and while Dirk is having a ridiculous year, Kobe's is slightly better.

-Pujols is a beast.

El Padrino, OUT.

Pedro is Pedro

I don't care that he is 34 years old. I don't care that this is was his second start of a long season.
I care that Pedro is Pedro. And he is. In the early years of his career he would dial up 95+ just about every inning. Year after year that power speed slowly got depleted. But Pedro is not a thrower. He's a pitcher. Which is why he is one of the all-time greats. And I couldn't be happier that he is on the METS.

Pdero abused the Nationals last night and yeah, I know it's the Expos of DC but listen. Good teams beat bad teams. Yankees proves this every year by stomping all over the AL Central and the basement of thier own division. First inning Pedro's fastball was clocked at 84. He retired the first 10 batters with that. Then Vidro took him yard and tied the game. He shouldn't have done that. It pissed Pedro off. David Wright in the top of the next inning tripled to center and scored on a sharp single by Floyd. That was all Pedro needed. He continued to mow down Nationals with a filthy two-seam fastball with appearances by the curve and the change. In the sixth drama started to fill RFK stadium. After fanning Jose Vidro on a high hard one this is what ensued. Bases loaded, one out, Jose Gullien up to bat. Now first a little history lesson on Jose. One, he has the best average amongst active players vs. Pedro. Two, last week he walked into a curve ball and got all testy about. So testy that he promised if Pedro hit him again he would do something about it. Now, back to the action. Ball one, low and away. Lo Duca calls time and jogs to Pedro's house (the mound). He pretty much just screams at him to bear down and get this punk. Three pitches later Pedro throws a 91-mph fastball that is weakly grounded to Jose Reyes who quickly flips to Anderson Hernandez who fires into Delgado's first base mitt.
Inning over, no controversy. Pedro could still kick it in high gear. Until then, 84mph fastballs suit him and the Mets, just fine.

P.S - Wagner topped out at 99MPH to end the game.

Arrogance

Bonds. Barry Bonds. You want to talk about arrogant. Amidst all the talk and speculation that he has used illegal performance enhancing drugs, ESPN airs a documentary every Tuesday night about his life. It's about his baseball life, his family life and his lonely moments when it's just him and the camera. It's also about we the public having a giant banner on our collective forehead that says "STUPID". It's a direct slap in the face. I just want to know how we the public are supposed to believe that this man did not, at any point, inject or ingest or rub any steroid into, or on his muscular body. The only thing missing is the smoking needle. The drug test, the positive one, is the only thing missing from a mountain of evidence that is pretty undeniable. I mean were talking detailed evidence. Victor Conte, BALCO, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield, testimonials, and more. The list goes on as long as a Mariah Carey high note.

Maybe it's because we love baseball. And like hearing news that our girlfriend or boyfriend has just admitted cheating on you, we just don't want to believe it. But we have to. It happened. The proof is in the pudding. And the pudding is the evidence. Too much for me. I am not only talking about Bonds either, McGwire was on the juice too. Sosa, yes. Brady Anderson, who freakishly got big and clubbed 50 HR's in 1996, no brainer. It just so happens that neither of these former players are on the verge of owning baseball's most sacred record. And you don't see any of them with a reality show, rubbing it in our face.

Welcome

I made it. I think. I have my own blog so that must mean I did make it. Nonsense.
I am just here to rant and rave about life. Sports mostly, but I've been known to dabble a bit.
And a dabblin' I will do. Stay tuned for some ranting, some raving and of course some bloggin'.
